The Denis Baeten Trio can take many different forms, according to the period and Denis’ feeling about music. Let’s say he’s using this generic term as a laboratory to explore some music with complete freedom. Denis is gathering some of his favorite musicians of the dutch/belgian scene to bring his music to life.
Some days he explores the music of Thelonious Monk with his dear friends Duarte Cotta on guitar and Donatas Bielunskis on double bass, using adventurous arrangements to play the music of one of his musical heroes.
Another day he will invite virtuosos Alessandro Fongaro and Nicolò Ricci for an impro session or to play some of his own tunes. Freedom is king.
